Del irlandés medio co tí ("hasta que llegue"), subjuntivo del irlandés medio tic (Ulster contemporáneo tig por el estándar taga), del irlandés antiguo do·icc ("venir"), del que proviene el verbo contemporáneo tar ("venir").¹

Preposición editar

1: Hasta, a (temporal y espacial).

Ejemplo:

Dh'imigh sé leis ó thuaidh ar fad go Dún na nGall, agus thriall sé go dtí tigh duine uasail san oíche, ag lorg iostas na hoíche agus greim le n-ithe.Scéal na dtrí chomhairle.

Ejemplo:
